Statement on Restrictions to Adoption by Same-Sex Couples in Slovakia
The Principality of Kaharagia condemns recent legal measures in the Slovak Republic that effectively bar homosexual couples from adopting.
Children need love, stability, and responsible adults. Able parents should not be excluded because of their sexual orientation. Equality before the law and the dignity of every person are basic guarantees.
Being homosexual is not a political position; it is part of who a person is. Acknowledging that homosexual people exist and are normal is not “indoctrination”; it is a simple statement of fact. Policies built on the opposite view do harm.
Many countries have moved forward on equal treatment for homosexual people. Slovakia’s step reverses that progress and sets a troubling precedent. We urge the authorities to reconsider, uphold their human-rights obligations, and ensure that every child, especially those without permanent families, can be welcomed into the widest pool of loving homes.
