Sovereign Decree on the Regulation of the National Coat of Arms and the Armorial Bearings of Members of the Royal Family
WHEREAS the Arms of the Realm constitute the principal symbol of the Sovereign authority of the Principality of Kaharagia and the unity of the Kaharagian People;
HAVING REGARD TO the duty of the Sovereign to safeguard the dignity, integrity, and lawful usage of the national arms and emblems of the State;
RECALLING that heraldic order and symbolism form part of the constitutional and cultural identity of the Principality, serving as the visible expression of its sovereignty;
ACKNOWLEDGING the responsibility of the Crown to regulate the armorial bearings and standards of the Royal Family in accordance with law and tradition;
NOW, THEREFORE, We, in Our Sovereign capacity, by the authority vested in Us, do hereby Decree as follows:
Article I – The Arms of the Realm
The Arms of the Realm shall be the Arms of the Sovereign, representing the authority, continuity, and dignity of the Principality of Kaharagia. These Arms shall serve as the supreme heraldic emblem of the State.
Article II – Use by Government and Representatives
The Government and authorised representatives of the Sovereign may use the Arms of the Realm without external ornaments save for the Crown of the Realm, symbolising the lawful exercise of authority in the Sovereign’s name.
Article III – Arms of the Consort of a Male Sovereign
1. The female spouse of a male Sovereign shall impale her personal arms with the Arms of the Realm and may display them in the same form as those of the Sovereign, omitting the flags of State borne by the supporters.
2. She may, if she so desires, replace one supporter with that drawn from her personal arms on the sinister side.
Article IV – Arms of Consorts of Female Sovereigns and of Male Consorts of a Male Sovereign
The male or female spouse of a female Sovereign, and the male spouse of a male Sovereign, may quarter their arms with the Arms of the Realm in such form as shall be directed by the Sovereign in consultation with the Chief Herald of Kaharagia.
Article V – Arms of the Crown Prince or Crown Princess
1. The child of the Sovereign who is Crown Prince or Crown Princess shall bear the Arms of the Sovereign differenced by a red label of three points, signifying heirship to the Crown.
2. Their crown shall be the Crown of the Realm with four arches, three of which are visible heraldically, lined with red velvet.
Article VI – Arms of the Hereditary Prince or Hereditary Princess
1. The child of the Crown Prince or Crown Princess who is Hereditary Prince or Hereditary Princess shall bear the Arms of the Sovereign differenced by a red label of five points, signifying heirship to the heir.
2. Their crown shall be the Crown of the Realm with four arches (three visible heraldically), ornamented with pearls in place of strawberry leaves where the arches are absent, and lined with red velvet.
Article VII – Arms of Other Children of the Sovereign
1. Each other child of the Sovereign shall bear the Arms of the Sovereign differenced by a unique red label of three points, displayed without external ornaments save the Crown of the Realm without arches, lined with red velvet.
2. Children of the Sovereign may encircle their arms with the insignia of their highest Order or decoration.
Article VIII – Arms of the Grandchildren of the Sovereign
1. Each grandchild of the Sovereign shall bear the Arms of the Sovereign differenced by a unique red label of five points, displayed without external ornaments save the Crown of the Realm without arches, jewelled in gold and lined with red velvet.
2. Grandchildren of the Sovereign may likewise encircle their arms with the insignia of their highest Order or decoration.
Article IX – The Royal Standard
1. The Royal Standard shall consist of the banner of the Arms of the Realm upon a rectangular field approximately one-third wider than its height.
2. It shall be flown only in the presence of, and with the permission of, the Sovereign.
Article X – Personal Standard of the Sovereign’s Consort
The personal standard of a female spouse of the Sovereign shall be the banner of her arms.
Article XI – Standards of Other Members of the Royal Family
The personal standard of all other members of the Royal Family or Royal House shall consist of their arms upon a square red field.
Article XII – Oversight, Custody, and Registration
The Chief Herald of Kaharagia, acting under the authority of the Herald Chancellor (the Chancellor of the Realm) within the Secretariat of State, shall supervise compliance with this Decree and all instruments made under it.
Article XIII – Execution, Repeal, and Entry into Force
1. Execution of this Decree is entrusted to the Herald Chancellor, acting through the Institute of Heraldry and the Royal Chancellery, under the general supervision of the Secretary of State.
2. All prior provisions inconsistent with this Decree are hereby repealed.
3. This Decree shall enter into force immediately upon Our Signature, and shall be published for the record in the Royal Kaharagian Gazette.
